However, existing plans can be upgraded.\n\nGitHub offers multiple Copilot plans for individual developers, as well as a dedicated student offering, each designed to meet different needs based on your coding habits, interest in AI models, and desired level of flexibility.\n\nYou can choose from the following plans.\n\n## GitHub Copilot Free\n\nFor developers looking to get started with Copilot.\n\n* Includes up to **2,000 code completions** and an allowance of GitHub AI Credits\n* Limited chat and agent usage and a selection of models\n* Designed to give you a limited taste of Copilot's capabilities\n* No subscription or payment required\n* Intended for **personal use only**, not for users managed by an organization or enterprise\n* Great for developers who want to explore Copilot's capabilities before upgrading to a paid plan\n\n## GitHub Copilot Student\n\nVerified students can access unlimited completions and additional models at no cost.\n\n* Includes **unlimited** code completions and an allowance of GitHub AI Credits\n* Limited chat and agent usage and a selection of models\n* Free for verified students\n\n## GitHub Copilot Pro\n\nFor developers who want more flexibility, including unlimited completions and access to additional models.\n\n* Includes **unlimited completions** in IDEs\n* Access to Copilot Chat and a selection of models\n* A monthly allowance of AI credits.
